Work on a new multi-million pound retail project in the city centre will start this summer.
Kier Construction has been chosen as the contractor for the project, the estimated value of which is £17m, which will be based on The Moor, Sheffield.
The retail project is the main focus point for improvements in the error, with £2.5m worth of work being carried out on public spaces. The contractor for the improvement work is North Midland Construction.
The leaseholders of The Moor, Scottish Widows Investment Property Partnership Trust are working in collaboration with Sheffield City Council on the project.
Ranald Phillips, a director Ashcrofts, the company who manages The Moor for Scottish Widows Investment Property Partnership Trust, had this to say on the development:
“This is great news for Sheffield and we are pleased that all of the project is moving ahead now that the various agreements are in place, the tendering process is completed and we’ll see start on site in several weeks’ time”
The Market Hall building, which was designed by Leslie Jones Architects, will provide 200 indoor stalls and a two-storey eight unit block of shops.
