The government is to launch it’s own property sales website, similar to the popular Rightmove website. The website will help them sell state-owned properties online.
The website, which will be named, ‘Find Me Some Government Space’ will allow users to search to see properties on sale in areas, but to find a price, an agent will need to be contacted.
The cabinet office had said that it should help to speed up the process of selling state-owned properties. The website will have around 300 properties to rent and 900 for sale.
There are some properties that are available in Yorkshire, including magistrates court buildings, plots of land, an ambulance station in Harrogate and former hospital in Bingley.
Chloe Smith, minister for political and constitutional reform said: “We’re making the civil service more efficient and cutting waste, as a result we will have a number of properties both owned and rented that we need to do more with.
“Not only will this website help to save government money but we will see new opportunities, jobs and growth in local economies as new life is brought into empty, unused properties.”
